It’s official. The “Clean Girl” look has solidified its’ place in fashion & beauty for 2022. Basically a carbon copy of the ever classic “no makeup makeup look”, the clean girl trend refers to more than just looking like you’re not wearing a lot of makeup. Clean girl is a complete thought out aesthetic from hair, makeup, and fashion to lifestyle tips and advice. And while I don’t usually take life advice from TikTok trends, I really do enjoy a clean makeup!

Shaving your face will not make your hair grow back thicker. In fact, shaving in general will not make your hair grow back thicker. I remember as a young girl when I shaved my legs the first time- I shaved the upper thigh, my mom scolded me saying the hair would grow back thicker now. My young girl brain thought not I was doomed to be a hairy beast for the rest of my life.

The science is simple: shaving cannot create more hair follicles. Ultimately, you have the amount of hair follicles you have- by cutting hairs shorter you cannot “create more follicles” thus, it’s impossible that your hair could grow back thicker.
However, one might argue why does hair feel thicker when it grows back after you shave?
Also a simple answer. Because shaving cuts all the hairs at the same length, it feels as if they are all on the same growth cycle. Also, the razor cuts the hair bluntly in the middle of the strand, therefore making it feel coarser. Think about when you get a haircut: your hair feels thicker because the ends have been cut blunt. But you haven’t magically grown more hairs while sitting the stylists chair.
